Central Sanskrit University Merit Scholarship 2025–2026

About the Scholarship
The Central Sanskrit University (CSU) Merit Scholarship is a government initiative to support students studying Sanskrit, Pali, or Prakrit. It is available for students from Class 9 to Ph.D. level in both traditional and modern education streams. Selected students will receive a monthly scholarship of up to ₹2,500.
Eligibility
To apply, a student must:
- Be studying Sanskrit, Pali, or Prakrit as a main or optional subject
- Be in Class 9 to Ph.D. level
- Have scored at least 60% in the last qualifying exam
- Be able to read and write in simple Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit
Minimum marks relaxation:
- OBC: 55%
- SC/ST/PH: 50%
Note: No relaxation for EWS students, but reservation benefits are available with valid documents.

Additional for Ph.D. scholars:
₹5,000 per year as contingency amount

Selection Criteria
- Based on merit and eligibility
- Preference to traditional/oriental stream students
- Followed by Honours and M.A. level students
Terms and Conditions
- Scholarship will be transferred to students’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts
- Must not be receiving any other scholarship
- Applicants must apply every academic year
- No gap years allowed
- Ph.D. students must submit progress reports annually
- CSU reserves the right to reject any application without reason
